Best(s) of 2010

As we head into 2011 (I can't believe this year went by so fast!), I wanted to take a look back over 2010 and take note of some "bests". We got to work with some great clients and most of the designs that were birthed were collaborative efforts between myself, awesome planners and our clients.

MOST UNIQUE INVITATION
Jami Buzinski and Jason Zak - Married on August 21st in Chicago

Black, Yellow and White was a popular color palette last season and Jami and Jason made the most of it. Their pocket held a custom pattern that matched their linens and it was printed offset onto Paper Source's Luxe Fino White stock. There is a rich texture to this paper and they ended up with a luxe look and feel. A buttercup ribbon finished the look, LOVED these.

SWEETEST COUPLE
Kathryn Kull and Phil Utterback - Married on September 4th in St. Joseph's, MI

I met Kathryn and Phil in late June and unfortunately, their stationer had gotten very ill and could not do their wedding invitations as planned. Jackie Gaik of Jack Design referred them to me (Thanks Jackie!), and I wanted to do a good job for them.

Kathryn and Phil were just so laid back and easy to work with! Even though it was a destination wedding to St. Joe's, Michigan (these kinds of weddings are usually very time consuming and require a ton of back and forth... On top of everything there wasn't much time to get them out and it was taking place over Labor Day weekend), they made decisions quickly and fully trusted my direction in areas where they were unsure.

Their invitations came out awesome and I ended up doing their table numbers and place cards as well. Thanks Katie and Phil, I had a great time working with you.

BEST FEEDBACK
Tara and Sam Hergott - Married on November 13th in Illinois
Tara was/is a sweetie pie! She gave me a 5-star review on Yelp, sent me pictures of her wedding, AND sent me a thank you card with pics of her and her new hubby! I am SO appreciative. There is so much going on sometimes that I'll never hear from a client again after working with them so closely for such a long time. I hope I can work with Tara again in the future and I am wishing she and Sam all the best in love and life!

Check out the work I did for Tara in our blogpost feature.

MOST FUN I HAD ON A PROJECT
Kerry Duffy and P.J. Tavarczky - Married on July 9th in Chicago
Kerry and P.J. were the cutest couple! They had clear ideas of what they wanted all the way around. Their invitations were also very unique, but their place cards even more so. Kerry is a school teacher and decided to cut out numbers and asked me to actually write the guests names on the numbers. They were affixed to a bed of flowers and displayed for guests at the reception.
I had SO much fun writing on these numbers! It was a challenge to fit all the letters of the guests names in an aesthetically pleasing way, but I enjoyed every minute of it. Nice to do something different every once in a while.

MOST ADORABLE INVITE
Nina Ballantine Baby Shower Invite - March 6th in Illinois
This invitation is high on the "Ooh" and "Aww" meter! For some reason, the baby shower invitations that I do have been among my most creative work. I actually pitched this idea to another mother-to-be and they couldn't afford them, so I was very excited to be able to finally reveal this brown baby to the world!

MOST POPULAR INVITE FEATURED ON OUR BLOG
Lesley Coleman and William Johnson - Married on September 18th in Illinois
Ok, you know how you visit popular blogs and wonder how come your posts don't get as many retweets and/or likes? Well, when Lesley and William's invitation blog feature hit our blog, our usually small audience responded! I got so much feedback on how lovely these rich, fall-themed invitations were. They were one of our faves this season and I'm proud to have concepted and produced this suite. Congrats Lesley and William!

Enjoy the pics and we'll see you in 2011! Thanks for your support and interest in CT-Designs this year, we appreciate you! If you like our content, please take the time to follow us on FB, Twitter or follow our blog!

Butter Kup Spa Collection Event - 12/4

I had the pleasure of attending a spectacular holiday event showcasing the Butter Kup Spa Collection. Erika Bracey (the company's founder and CEO) has been perfecting this product for some time now and I am hoping that she achieves national success from it.

Not Just Another Scrub
Butterkup's product line includes Butter Kup Shea Butter Sugar Scrubs, Butter Kup Whip Cream, Butter Kup Lemon Meringue Pie Foot Treatment, Butter Kup Passion Petals, Butter Kup Body Liqu'or, Butter Kup Bath Crystals, Butter Kup Shea Butter, Butter Kup Gourmet Milk Bath, Butter Kup Glam Eye Shadows, Bronzers and more...

The makeup was a divine addition to the already fabulous line (MAC who?), and I nabbed a couple of eye shadows which soon became "must haves" for my cosmetic case!
Butterkup is a perfect holiday gift and Erika puts together the nicest gift baskets upon request. Brides should take note that these gift baskets also make GREAT gifts for your bridesmaids or your welcome bags for out-of-town guests.

Check out the Butterkup Spa Collection FB Page and keep up to date on what Erika's whipping up next! I didn't get a chance to get a posed shot of Erika (tough when you are holding court at a very BUSY event!), so I nabbed her gorgeous profile pic! Smooches, Erika and I hope sales are super successful for you this holiday season!
